The Finnco Story

Finnco Controls was started in 1987 in the small town of Ohope by Heikki and Kay Sirkku.  The company got its name from Heikkis’ home country Finland (Finn) and “Company”. The company soon grew and became one of the leading pneumatics suppliers in the processed wood industry. In 1993 it was relocated to Rotorua to be central to their customer. In 1997 the Sirkku family changed the name to Finnco Fluid Power. In 2002 Finnco started to manufacture cylinders for the New Zealand market as well as its distributors around the country. In 2004 Finnco was purchased by Jason Light and the name was changed to Finnco Pneumatics Ltd.

In 2009 Mr. Light felt that there was a need for a compressor service company in the Bay of Plenty region that could offer the customers a customer focused service provider that could cover the complete service of compressors and pneumatics and thus Finnco Compressors was started. In 2010 Finnco was appointed the Sole New Zealand distributor for Elgi Compressors.

In 2016 Westec Automation was purchased by Finnco and is now part of the Finnco group offering top of the line pneumatic and compressor products to all industries throughout New Zealand.
